Q: What inspired you to play volleyball?
Kaley: Ever since I was little, I admired volleyball players and wanted to be like them. I also had a family member who played, and watching them compete inspired me to give the sport a try. Once I stepped onto the court, I realized how much I loved the game. Volleyball has helped me grow as both a player and a person, and that’s why I’ve stuck with it.
Q: What is it like being on the volleyball team?
Kaley: It’s honestly been such an amazing experience. I’ve made so many new friends, and being on the team has really given me a sense of belonging. Every practice and game has been a chance to improve and push myself, and I think our team has built a really special bond this season.
Q: What is your most memorable moment on the court?
Kaley: One that stands out was during a game on Tuesday when I got an incredible kill from the right side. The energy in that moment was unforgettable – the crowd, my teammates cheering, and just the rush of executing a play perfectly. That’s the kind of moment that reminds you why you love the sport.
Q: Describe a challenge you have faced during a game.
Kaley: There was one match where we got stuck in a really tough set. We started missing a lot of points, and it felt like we were falling apart. Instead of giving up, we leaned on each other. Our energy picked up, we kept encouraging one another, and we ended up coming back to win. That game taught me how powerful teamwork and positivity can be in turning things around.
Q: How do you balance schoolwork and volleyball?
Kaley: It’s definitely a challenge. Between practices, games and travel, it’s easy to fall behind. What works for me is getting most of my homework done during school hours so that I don’t feel overwhelmed later. It takes discipline, but volleyball motivates me to stay organized and use my time wisely.

Q: What role does teamwork play in your success?
Kaley: Teamwork is everything. You can’t win a volleyball game on your own — it takes all six players trusting one another and working together. Our teamwork has grown so much this season, and that’s why we’ve been successful. When you know your teammates have your back, it gives you confidence to play your best.
Q: How do you handle pressure during big matches?
Kaley: I try to stay calm by taking a deep breath and reminding myself that my teammates are right there with me. Pressure is just part of the game, but when I focus on the team and not just myself, it feels easier to handle. My friends on the court always encourage me, and that makes the pressure feel less heavy.
Q: What advice would you give to younger volleyball players?
Kaley: Keep pushing yourself, even when things feel tough. Every day is a new chance to improve. Don’t get discouraged by mistakes, because everyone makes them. If you put in the work and stay positive, you’ll surprise yourself with how much you can achieve.
Q: How does the JV team celebrate victories?
Kaley: We usually just hang out together, blast some music and hype each other up. It’s less about huge celebrations and more about enjoying the moment as a team. Those little celebrations are what make the wins special.
Q: What are your future aspirations?
Kaley: I would love the chance to play at a Division III school. Playing in college has always been a dream, and I think it would be an incredible experience. Beyond volleyball, I want to take the lessons I’ve learned, teamwork, focus and resilience, and apply them to everything I do in life.
