No matter the win or loss, one voice is apparent on the field. Coppell freshman JV2 midfielder Taleen Abuhamdeh contributes to team spirit through her determination and energy.
What is your most memorable moment from the season?
We had a tournament at the very beginning of the year. That was probably my best game of the entire season. I felt like I was moving the ball around the field, helping get the ball from the defensive third to the attacking third, and it was a really good game overall.
How do you respond when things are not going well for the team?
I’ll be trying to hype us up, yelling “We got this! Come on! Don’t give up now!” because soccer is a mental game. It’s really a matter of your mentality that can be the difference between a win and a loss.
What was your biggest area of improvement this season?
My defense and off-ball movement, because I always feel so lost whenever I’m trying to defend on the ball. Mentally, I’ve been trying to realize my worth on the field. I can contribute in big ways if I just put my mind into the game.
How do you balance school and soccer?
I have been trying to do all my school work during school, and then I’ll practice soccer before and after school. If I have any studying or anything left, I’ll do that after my practice.
What is your strongest quality on the field?
My strongest quality is my communication skills, because even when everyone isn’t talking or they’re being silent while playing, which is really bad because you don’t really know what your team is going to do. You can’t read their minds. So when you talk, you really understand what’s going on, and I think that I am a really big person when it comes to telling my teammates when there’s a defender on them or when they have an open shot.
What is one goal you are actively working on?
I have been really wanting to make at least three goals in one game for a while now. There have been games where I just score maybe once, or I get a good assist, but I haven’t been able to score more than twice in a game.
