About Us and Policies

The Sidekick is the official student newspaper for Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas. Its purpose is to inform, entertain and provide an educational resource for its readers. This newspaper is a public forum for student expression, with staff members (with assistance from their adviser) making content decisions. The editorials and columns in this paper reflect the view of their writers.

The Sidekick is a member of Interscholastic League Press Conference (ILPC), National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), Southern Interscholastic Press Association (SIPA), Quill and Scroll International Honor Society and Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA). The Sidekick welcomes all letters to the editor, but letters must be signed before consideration for publication. Send letters to [email protected] or bring them by D115.

Coppell Student Media welcomes comments to its online stories. Comments can support or disagree with the viewpoints of the writers but must be in good taste and refrain from inappropriate language. Much of the content on this site covers students in the Coppell Independent School District, and Coppell Student Media will protect their best interests in regards to comments. A legitimate email address is required to post a comment. Coppell Student Media reserves the right to remove any comment it deems inappropriate and does not allow anonymous comments. Comments on stories 12 months after their original publication will not be considered for approval.

If there is a factual error or mistake, we will run a correction and/or clarification. For print, these corrections/clarifications will be published on the editorial page of the next issue. For online, an update will be posted to the story informing the reader it has been revised from its original version due to a correction and/or clarification. For social media, a post or comment will be added to the original with the corrected information.
