The Coppell girls basketball team prepares to start District 6-6A play against Plano West in the CHS Arena at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowgirls are currently 8-5 on their season.

The team has undergone rigorous practices in order to perform at its highest level.

“Practice is intense and we get after it,” senior shooting guard Ella Spiller said. “Our practices are definitely harder but it puts us in the best position to be successful.”

Some big focal points for Coppell are consistency and precision, especially with the smaller details.

“We are all working on doing the little things,” Spiller said. “We are working together as a team to use the assignments [coach Ryan Murphy] has been giving us and using what we work on in practice for the game.”

The girls are also working to fill the gap in experience left by the graduation of the class of 2023.

“The goal is to focus on this season and the pieces we have this year,” Spiller said. “We are not the same team and are pretty inexperienced at the varsity level, but we have been doing well. We are not comparing ourselves to last year, we just focus on us.”
