Coppell sophomores guard Avary Campbell, guard Amber Coffey, juniors forward Ashley Hall, guard Prisha Kolhe and senior forward Nihira Nadgonde show great promise in the upcoming season for the Cowgirls basketball team. The Sidekick staff writer Ayesha Syed questions them on their goals and teamwork this season.
How has your performance improved this season?
Campbell: I have improved my performance this season by being more aggressive and taking my scoring opportunities.
Coffey: I feel like I am improving on defense and have been getting more steals during games.
Hall: So far in the season my biggest improvement has been execution on offense, knowing what to look for and the details it takes to get that.
Kolhe: I feel like I am improving on defense by being more aggressive.
Nadgonde: This season I have gotten better with communicating with my teammates and my shooting form.
What’s your favorite thing to do with teammates prior to games?
Campbell: My favorite thing to do with my team is support our JV and ninth grade teams, I also like our pre game huddles and hype sessions.
Coffey: My favorite thing to do with my teammates before a game is to watch the subvarsities play. It is fun to watch them and cheer them on from the side.
Hall: My favorite thing to do with my teammates before a game is our locker room talks, laughs and music. It cultivates our relationship outside of being teammates on the court. It’s really fun and I really do enjoy each of my teammates as people.
Kolhe: My favorite thing to do with my teammates before a game is to listen to music in the locker room and watch JV play.
Nadgonde: My favorite thing to do is listen to music and watch the JV and freshmen teams play. We get to cheer them on.
What have you noticed your teammates do during the season that you would like to implement yourself?
Campbell: I noticed my teammates are improving their communication skills on and off the court. This helps keep momentum moving during our highs and lows of the game.
Coffey: Some of my teammates write on their wrists before practice so they have reminders throughout. I would like to implement that myself this season.
Hall: My teammates are able to carve out specific time for school work and homework. They know how busy the basketball schedule is and intentionally make time to get schoolwork done and I want to do a better job of that.
Kolhe: My teammates are communicating more on the court and are writing their jobs on the court on their legs and arms with a sharpie to help them remember.
Nadgonde: My teammates have been talking about their jobs on the court before the game starts so they are prepared and know what to do.
