Allen lets the final seconds of the clock run out with a five point lead, the faces of the crowd fall and the body language shifts as the final buzzer of the Cowgirl’s 2025-26 season screeches in the Creekview gymnasium.
With seven minutes remaining on the clock 34-17, Coppell’s sophomore 5 ’11 guard Amber Coffey was relentless and contributed 15 points with her recognizable three point shots.
Coppell sophomore guard Amber Coffey makes a three pointer with 6:35 left in the final quarter, the Cowgirls have 6:35 left on the clock to catch up by 17 points.
The Cowgirls fell behind in the first half due to the Eagle’s heavy coverage on the court and their skillful defense.
“The first half of the game we started off really slow,” Coppell junior guard Mallory Cooper said. “We started to pick up our pace and it really helped us out.”
The Cowgirls basketball team faced a great deal before and throughout the season.
Coach Kit Pehl resumed coaching, while being the Athletic Director of CHS.
Along with coaching staff adjustment, Coppell senior 6’4 forward and University of Arkansas commit Adriana Reijnen was injured at Flower Mound Feb. 6. That put the Cowgirls at a disadvantage for the adjusting lineup and their top player out for the remainder of the season.
She scored her third 3-pointer 37 seconds left in the game, pushing the Cowgirls three points behind, 38-35.

“Honestly, at the end of the game I was devastated, especially for our seniors,” Cooper said. “It was the most stressful game I have ever played, and it was so sad because this is our last time ever playing together.”
Coppell junior guard Prisha Kohle scored nine points, moving through the pressing defense and finding a gap to shoot from the three point line.
Cooper re-entered the game after a pause from an injury in the first half, going up for every rebound and pushing points.
“I was really excited that I was getting those rebounds and benefitting my team and giving us a better opportunity to score,” Cooper said.
The game was stiff, with a run of turnovers from Coffey and Cooper, and rather than running back and forth, the Cowgirls pulled the reins and came back in the last quarter with just under three minutes remaining, 37-32.
The Cowgirls fought against the Eagles, but the remaining 28 seconds the ball did not make it back to Cowgirls, and the Eagles emerged victorious for the second round of playoffs, 40-35.
