On Tuesday, March 30, the Coppell High School band will be hosting a concert, open to the general public. The concert, conducted in the school’s auditorium, begins at 7:00 p.m. and is expected to last approximately three hours.
The four high school bands will be performing music such as Gallant Seventh, Carnival Overture and Symphony in One Movement.
“It’s basically a dress rehearsal,” section leader and junior Violet Coker said. “There aren’t many times we get to sit down and play in class while we’re working on it, because we’re perfecting it, and usually we can’t just sit for up for up to 23 minutes playing.”
The concert will be practice for UIL competition for the band, and will include judges weighing in their opinions on the band’s performance, so that the band may make necessary improvements before the actual competition, in which it has always done well.
