It was officially announced earlier this week that actor Chris Evans, from such movies as Fantastic Four and Not Another Teen Movie, would be playing the role of Captain America. It’s been in debate for some time who would play the star-spangled hero in the Marvel movie with many actors considered for the role.
Other actors that were formerly considered for the role include John Krasinski (The Office), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), and Channing Tatum (She’s the Man).
Evans will also join The Avengers cast alongside Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Edward Norton as The Hulk. He’s also reportedly signed on for 3 of the Captain America movies.
Captain America’s is set to release July 22, 2011 and be directed byJoe Johnson.
