The vocal teams of Hip-Hop artist Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine sent two more aspiring musicians home on tonight’s episode of NBC’s The Voice. Of the eight performing finalists, two were sent home by their coaches during the instant elimination rounds.
Surviving this round of eliminations was Sharon Mathai, 18-year-old nursing student and Coppell native. Singing “I’m Like A Bird” by Nelly Furtado, Mathai’s coach Levine thought her performance was ‘great,’ and country artist Blake Shelton called it ‘beautiful.’
While they enjoyed the performance, Christina Aguilera was actually booed for elaborating on her preference of contestant Katrina Parker’s rendition of “Jar of Harts,” and told Mathai she felt she wasn’t connecting to the song.
Mathai will go on to sing on next week’s episode where she will continue to compete for a $100,000 prize and a recording deal.
