Over the last couple of months I have heard or read “One Direction” well over a hundred times, perhaps more than any other words (well, aside from YOLO [You Only Live Once]) — and I’m not exaggerating.
If you don’t know, One Direction is an increasingly popular English boy band well known for competing on the U.K.’s X Factor. And I must report, after reaching out of my musical comfort zone and listening to a couple of songs that my friends constantly raved about, I was disappointed to discover they were just a Bieber-Jonas mix.
Now I’m probably going to have millions of angry girls tossing death threats my way, but I really don’t see what makes them special. The lyrics give what a girl wants to hear, but the music composure consists of an ordinary high pitched na-na-na fiddly tune.
I’m not an expert, but here’s where I think–their fame is coming from the accent and the looks. Why? Because who doesn’t love a British man? They’re foreign and their accents rock; that’s it for a teenage girl.
Maybe it’s the band wagon that’s getting to me the most and drives my dislike towards them–or maybe I’m just the somber music type.
Either way, I want to know. One Direction fever: Is it all looks? Leave your opinion down below.
