With summer coming up, movie releases are becoming more relevant as students have more time to go see films in theaters. Within the next week, you can enjoy eight movies that are coming out on April 13th and April 15th.
One of the most intriguing films hitting theaters this Friday is the thriller The Cabin in the Woods, which is rated R. The film follows five friends that travel to a deserted cabin in the woods where bad things begin to happen. The film is supposed to be a twist on the classic scary story of a house in the woods. If you want more horror, Detention is also being released and stars Hunger Games hero Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark). The film is a unique apocalytpic, horror, science-fiction movie that centers around a student played by Josh Hutcherson. This movie is also rated R due to heavy violence since the story focuses on a serial killer that has targeted the school of Hutcherson as his new place of slaughter.
There is only one action movies coming this Friday, Lockout. Lockout is the story of a man incorrectly accused of conspiracy to commit espionage against the country. The only possible way for him to earn his freedom is by saving the President’s daughter from an outer space prison that has been taken over by the inmates.
You can also laugh this weekend with the opening of The Three Stooges this Friday. The movie is an adaption of the original comedic television show and stars the same characters, Moe, Larry and Curly, who are on a mission to save their childhood orphanage, but instead get wrapped up in a murder plot and end up starring in a reality TV show. Another comedy hitting theaters is L!fe Happens, which revolves around three friends, Kim, Deena and Laura, who all live together. When Kim ends up pregnant, they all support her as she embraces motherhood and looks for a man.
If you are not in the mood for action, suspense or even comedy, there are plenty of dramas coming to theaters as well. First off is Blue Like Jazz, the film adaption of the novel by Donald Miller that is actually an autobiography of him embarking on a journey of self-discovery to understand who he is and what he actually believes. Deadline, which comes out April 15th, follows Nashville Times reporter Matt Harper who investigates the murder of an African American youth in Alabama that has gone unsolved for almost twenty years. Another drama hitting theaters is Touchback, which is about a former high school football star who gets the chance to revisit his glory days and play in his Ohio State Championship game, the game that ended his football dreams.
Whether you are in the mood for a comedy, action or drama, you will have no problem finding a movie to fit your interests this upcoming weekend.
