Everyone has those songs that can pull them out of even the foulest of moods. The song might not even be about something particularly happy, but it makes you feel good anyway. I’ve compiled a short list of the songs that never fail to make me one happy camper.
“The Tension and the Terror” by Straylight Run:About a month or so ago, my friend lent me their Straylight Run Cd’s. I specifically remember hearing this song and liking it right away. I most likely started it over again once it neared the end. The upbeat chorus of the song gets me smiling from ear to ear, and just like the first time I heard it, it’s impossible for me to listen to it all the way through without starting it over a few times.
“Cosmic Love” by Florence + The Machine: This is one of those songs that isn’t necessarily happy, but it’s one of the happiest songs that I’ve heard in a while. Lead singer Florence Welch’s voice creates goosebumps across my arms, and holds the attention of my ears until the very end. It’s so good, that it’d be so rude of me not to link you to the song.
“You Only Live Once” by The Strokes: The title of this song should make you happy right off the bat. This song is different from the usual darker songs off their CD First Impressions of Earth, and the clear voice of Julian Casablancas on this song puts me in an extremely good mood every time I listen to it.
“Skeleton Boy” by Friendly Fires: Whether it’s the urge to dance that this song always gives me, or the optimistic lyrics, this song is possibly the happiest one on this whole list. Whenever this song comes on, it’s impossible for me not to turn the volume up a few notches.
