The ever-famous Studio Ghibli has released yet another movie that is sure to be a favorite among fans. The Secret World of Arrietty premieres in theaters next Saturday February 17, and like Ponyo before it, promises to be a classic.
With a sweet and imaginative story, Arrietty is the latest in a long line of Studio Ghibli movies, and fortunately lives up to the legacy. I was fortunate enough to get advance tickets to see this movie a week before it came out, and I can say it was good. It had everything a Hayao Miyazaki movie needs: a compelling story, strong female lead and a certain magical feeling that permeates every scene.
Based on the award winning book The Borrowers, Arrietty let me revisit the delight I felt on seeing other Miyazaki movies for the first time, such as Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. For long time fans of Studio Ghibli movies, The Secret World of Arrietty is a must.
