Make the most of the long weekend

By Jordan Bickham

School has only been in session for two months, but already students are looking towards November and the promise of a week-long break.  While Thanksgiving break isn’t for another month, a nice, small break is already here.

This Friday is a staff development day for the entire district and Monday happens to be Columbus day.  While the holiday isn’t large on any scale, it does mean a day off of school.  Combine a free Friday and Monday with the weekend and you get one of the best breaks.  The four day weekend.  This weekend marks the first four-day weekend of the year, and the first real break from school.

Most people have already have a detailed agenda for the weekend, but if you don’t, no worries.  There’s tons of stuff going on this weekend, the biggest being the Texas State Fair.  The fair began on Sept. 30th and is town until Oct. 23rd.  Not only does it have exciting rides, fun games, and a giant ferris wheel, but it also has other attractions that vary daily.  You can get the fair’s daily schedule on their website and also check out the list of exciting attractions under the entertainment tab.

So visit the fair and make the most of this beautiful, four day weekend!
