Coppell Fire Chief Kevin Richardson and command staff were praised by the city council and guests for its outstanding service to Coppell citizens. On Tuesday, the Coppell City Council recognized the fire department for receiving the Insurance Services Office Class 1 plaque and maintaining it for 17 consecutive years.
Every five years, the ISO evaluates more than 50,000 fire departments nationwide to ensure they meet the standards for five years, with only 1% achieving the Class 1 rating. The ISO will continue to carry on its benefits to the Coppell community with property insurance risk and maintain a highly effective emergency response service system that protects people and property.
“We are so incredibly grateful for all of your hard work, the care and the dedication that you put in every part of your job,” council member Kevin Nevels said. “Thank you on behalf of the entire city for all of that.”
The meeting carried on to a public hearing that approved the PD-221R4R-LI & Industrial Special District Land Use Plan Amendment. The authorization allowed for a 439,689-foot office and distribution center for the proposal of a new Naterra International headquarters, known for its famous brands Tree Hut and Baby Magic, and a Freeway Special District for commercial uses.
The council approved this amendment unanimously and the motion was carried.
Naterra International CEO Jon Song presented the benefits Naterra would bring to Coppell, such as providing employment opportunities and economic development. Song hopes to relocate its Southlake and Fort Worth locations to Coppell as well.
Capital Commercial Investments construction and development manager Jarrod Mahan vouches for the endless opportunities Naterra can provide for Coppell.
”The project brings life to the property,” Mahan said. “The gate to Coppell does not want to miss out on the chance to grow with one of its most committed employers.”
Nevels appreciates Naterra for choosing Coppell for its headquarters and relocation.
“It sounds like you guys like having a home base here, and we love the type of business you’re bringing to Coppell,” Nevels said.
