Senior opposite hitter Mari Hill stepped back onto the court and set energy by hitting straight off the block to push points. Coach Robyn Ross knew that Coppell was considered the underdog and saw the Eagles strengths early on in the match.
“Allen has depth that most teams in our area do not,” Ross said. “They run a very fast offense and they are very big.”
Both teams rotations switched quickly due to the back and forth points in the second set. The Cowgirls fell to the Eagles in the second set by five points, 25-20.

The Eagles outside hitter swung to the tight corner of the 10 ft line at Felix for match point, and ended the bi-district playoffs and the Cowgirl’s season.

“We didn’t cause them enough trouble with our serving or blocking, so those will be some highlights during this off season,” Ross said.
Senior setter Emma Pehl carried the team’s strategy as both an offensive and defensive player.
“I move the ball around so hitters could stay open and have the opportunity to get kills,” Pehl said. “We spread the block on the right so their outside would always have a block to go up against.”
Ross noticed the Cowgirls’ struggle with blocking due to the Eagles’ offensive coordinates and physical standings.
“We struggled with blocking because of their quick offense and our smaller size,” Ross said. “Their offense was doing things our defense hadn’t seen all year and that caused some struggles.”
The Cowgirls finish the 2025-2026 season with a record of 20-11.
