My search for a good book came to a halt when I picked up “The Crazy School” by Cornelia Read. What I found inside the flimsy paper cover was a hilarious, interesting, and yet somewhat chilling world.
The main character, Madeline Dare is a teacher at Santangelo Academy, a school for troubled teenagers with bizarre teachers and even more bizarre methods of ‘treatment’. Things get freaky when two of the students’ bodies are found in the attic, and Madeline herself is arrested for the crime.
After reading this book, I wanted to flip back to the beginning and read it all over again, and that never happens to me. The plot went quickly but didn’t have such a fast pace that I got confused, and the main character, Madeline Dare is really well developed. It was fun getting to see the world through her eyes.
It’s the second book in the series, so I would suggest avoiding the mistake I made and read the first one, “Edge of Darkness” first. But seriously, this book is awesome. Go read it.
