As summer comes to a close, we welcome the fall season and all the joys it brings — the best of which being the return of your favorite TV shows. Here is a list of premiere dates for some of the shows I’m most excited for this season; if you haven’t seen any of these, I suggest you rent the seasons or watch them online. Chances are, it’ll be hard to tear me away from the couch on any of these evenings.
“Chuck”: Monday, September 20 at 7 p.m. central on NBC
I’ve been having withdrawals of this show all summer, missing my nerdy spy getaway every Monday. This season, the mysterious Mrs. Bartowski (a.k.a. Chuck’s mom) will appear on the scene — and guess what? She isn’t one of the good guys.
“Glee”: Tuesday, September 21 at 7 p.m. central on FOX
Gleeks, unite! After a whirlwind of a first season, it’s time to see how far the New Directions Glee Club will go this year in this singing, dancing, high-energy show. The promise of Britney Spears and Rocky Horror Picture Show-inspired episodes is enough to make me squeal.
“The Big Bang Theory”: Thursday, September 23 at 7 p.m. central on CBS
At the end of last season, Sheldon found his – dare I say it? – soulmate. Can the gang deal with Sheldon 2.0 or will they combust with annoyance?
“The Office”: Thursday, September 2 at 8 p.m. central on NBC
Steve Carrell’s forthcoming removal from the show at the end of this season is reason enough to tune in — it’ll probably be the show’s last decent season (or last season, period,) so the writers will be pulling all the stops. And at least we have Pam and Jim’s general new-marriage-slash-new-baby scenario to look forward to.
“Saturday Night Live”: Saturday, September 25 at 10:30 p.m. central on NBC
Even though they haven’t announced who will be hosting the premiere, we do know that Jane Lynch will be hosting on October 9. Need I say more?
