Bi-district game tonight

By Caitlin Conner

Tonight the Cowboys take on the Keller Central Chargers at Echols Stadium at 8:00PM. Coppell is 4-3-3 in district and 9-4-4 overall. Keller Central is 7-1-5 in district and 14-2-5 overall. The Chargers placed second in their district while Coppell placed third in theirs behind Southlake Carroll and Marcus.  The Cowboys surged late in the year to keep their playoff hopes alive and to get the third seed in their district was a good indicator of how the team has improved.

This game is the first round of playoffs. If the Cowboys win tonight, they will face the winner of Jesuit and Duncanville this weekend.  Jesuit is 18-0 and will likely beat the Duncanville Panthers to set up a rematch with the Cowboys if they beat Central.

The Cowboys will need to score early and have strong defense to keep the Keller Central attackers at bay.  Senior Jordan Elgin and junior Jake Garnett will need to provide the scoring since they are two of the leading scorers for Coppell.  The game may start slightly after 8:00 PM because of the Keller Central vs. Coppell girls game that starts at 6:00 PM.
