Former Coppell High School chemistry teacher Bob White died on Sunday. He was 68 and retired from CHS in 2014.
White received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Washington University in St Louis. Prior to coming to CHS, where he taught for eight years, White worked for 26 years as a food scientist at Frito-Lay.
He is remembered as an exceptional educator, funny person and man close to the hearts of many students.
“[White] was beloved,” CHS Principal Mike Jasso said. “He had a very dry sense of humor, he was a very personable man and a great teacher. We are certainly praying for his family in this difficult time.”
White is survived by his wife, Connie, eight children and 18 grandchildren. He lived in Lewisville and was born in Omaha, Neb.
A memorial service was held 11 a.m. on Thursday, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4000 Nazarene Dr. in Carrollton.
“He had these really bad jokes and a lot quirks in a really sweet way,” Sidekick managing editor Mallorie Munoz said. “Every Monday, he would pull up an article from a really old, falling apart paper from like the 70s. Somehow the articles tied into our lesson. We all really loved him.”
