Eight seniors tonight will step onto Buddy Echols field for the last time to play Colleyville Heritage. These eight seniors will lace up their cleats and fight for their last win at home for the Cowgirl soccer team against Colleyville.

Heritage (7-5-3), ranked 3rd in district 7-6A according to MaxPreps, and the Cowgirls (13-0-3), ranked first, will go to battle tonight at Coppell at 7:15.

Coppell, if they win this game, will set them up for a good position in playoffs, in which they hope to make a deep run. The 2009 5A State Champion Cowgirls will try to get their 14th win of the season, and will be a sentimental game for the Cowgirl seniors.

Senior forward Sarah King has mixed feelings about it being her last game as a Cowgirl.

“It’s definitely bittersweet,” King said. “It’s sad because that will be the last game I will ever play at Buddy Echols Field, but it’s exciting to know that we’re moving on to bigger and better things like playoffs and hopefully winning state.”

The Cowgirls, who have 34 goals for according to MaxPreps, will need to give everything they have according to King.

“It will take a lot of hard work and everyone giving 100%,” King said. “Everyone needs to play for the seniors and hopefully we will pull out the win.”

“It will take a lot of hard work and everyone playing their best,” King said. “Everyone needs to play for the seniors and hopefully we will pull out the win.”

King, who has been on the varsity Cowgirls team for all four years of her high school career, has played in many games over her career, gaining many memories. Yet one in particular stands out to her.

“One of my favorite memories was beating [Flower Mound] Marcus in shootouts in the third round of the playoffs,” King said. “It was a really big since we lost to them earlier in the year.”

The Cowgirls hope it won’t be necessary to go to shootouts against Colleyville Heritage to get the win, yet a win for the seniors could make yet another memory for King.
