Hockey Preview: Coppell vs Frisco

Starting off a season 13-1, according to coppellhockey.com, is a tremendous start for the Coppell Cowboys hockey team. Now, they look to get their fourteenth win against Frisco High School at the Dr. Pepper Stars Center in Farmers Branch Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.

The only loss for the Cowboys came against John Paul II, 7-8 on Dec. 21. This was the Cowboys previous game, and they hope to turn their fortunes against Frisco.

Sophomore hockey player James Reaman thinks that their team is well prepared to face up against the Racoons.

“This week, I personally have been on the ice five times in about five days,” Reaman said. “Our team has already been prepared for a while and that should let us do good tonight.”

He also thinks that an internal factor, not skill, will allow them to keep on winning.

“We have good team bonding going on in the locker room, so that should help us keep our record alive and then bring us to the playoffs later in the year,” Reaman said.

Winning 13 out of the first 14 games will put a team in a good position for the playoffs, and even in the running for the top spot. Since recently winning state, the Cowboys look to repeat their success this season.

The success of the team is dependent on most of the regular season games, and against the 8-3 Racoons, this game can improve their chances of getting the top playoff spot.

“We have the best record going into this part of the season so far, but it would still be nice to win it so we can keep our great record,” Reaman said. “If we lose this game it won’t hurt us as much as it could help us in the playoff rankings.”
