On Tuesday, the Coppell Cowgirls Softball team celebrated senior night for their last home game against Denton Ryan.
The seniors recognized included Elaine Forshaw, Lora Blackwell, Alicia Van Winkle, Alyssa Ringhausen, Alyssa Rucsh, Gaby Morlet, Ashley Witt, and team manager Megan Girdley. It was a very emotional night for their teammates as each senior was recognized for their contributions to the softball program at CHS.
Denton Ryan scored a run in the first inning, putting Coppell behind at the very beginning of the game. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth when the cowgirls scored two runs, which was highlighted by junior Erika Zimmer’s triple and a pair of run-scroing singles from freshman Ali Gentry and senior Alyssa Rusch.
In the top of the fifth, Denton Ryan scored two more runs, making the score 3-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Erika Zimmer doubled, but the Cowgirls were unable to get any additional runs, leaving the score 3-2.
After two more uneventful innings, the Cowgirls sadly lost their last district home game leaving them with a district record of 1-8.
