On Feb. 2, a group of what we can assume to be bored teenagers filmed a video that would forever change the song Harlem Shakes by Baauer. For the last couple of weeks we have seen countless parodies appear on the internet, varying from firefighters to retirement centers – YouTube estimates that by the end of the week over 40,000 versions will have been uploaded and collectively viewed over 175 million times.
The Harlem Shake is a roughly thirty-second video that features one individual (masked) dancing alone, then joined by a group that proceeds to rock-out for the rest of the clip.
