Scott Mason has been the head band director here at Coppell High School for the past 22 years. Mr. Mason studied music at Stephen F. Austin University. Mr. Mason originally aspired to be an architect and was accepted to Rice University but decided to study music in order to have more artistic freedom. Mason has always had a passion for music and has always enjoyed working with people that share the same passion. He worked in Crane and Snyder, Texas before coming to Coppell. Mason has taken almost all of his Coppell bands to the UIL State competition and won the State Championship title in 1999. When asked his hopes for the future of the Coppell band program Mason said, “I hope that we can build a program that the students, parents and community will enjoy and that students will enjoy and love performing music. Success is measured in many different ways and I think that one of the most important [measurements of success] is if everybody is enjoying what we are doing.”
