Golf Notebook: fall tournament season in full swing

Stephanie Gross

Staff Writer

Coming up this weekend are the two first big varsity tournaments of the new golf season. All of the players are back and ready to take on the course for another great year.

On Sept. 22-23, the CHS varsity 1 and 2 golf teams are back in tournament action, with varsity 1  traveling to Lubbock and varsity 2 in Fort Worth at the Bart Granger Memorial tournament.

Varsity 1 is headed to Lubbock to play in the Lubbock ISD Invitational this weekend. The team hopes to travel out there and come back with one of their first titles of the new golf season and also more confidence about grasping that state title.

Varsity 2 will just be taking a short trip to Ft. Worth for the weekend to participate in the Bart Granger tournament.  This tournament, like Varsity 1’s will take place over a two-day period this weekend. The Bart Granger Memorial is a tournament that high school teams play in at Pecan Valley golf course.
