The Cowgirls dominated from the very start of the game with a fast start after a goal from senior midfielder Lindsey Meyer off the assist from senior midfielder Kasey Johnson.
The Cowgirls controlled the entire game and the game ended with the score at 9-0, Cowgirls.
Lindsey Meyer earned an hat trick as well one assist in her first game back from a few games off with an injury. Coppell has struggled with injuries all year and is looking forward to having a full team back.
“We just need to get healthy,” Coach Chris Stricker said, ”We had Jessica Berdan and Jackie Moreau out tonight as well as Cassidy Spriggs being sick which was a big hit.”
Still, despite injuries and illness the Cowgirls have the depth to be able to replace those players if they need too. Senior Tori Elgin spent most of the game playing defense, a far stretch from her usual position at forward.
“Elgin did good stepping in,” Stricker said,” We worked hard all year to build the depth and it’s really paying off.”
The depth will pay off coming into the next couple of games. After this easy matchup against Saginaw Coppell will be going up against a trio of tough teams for the next three games taking on Denton Guyer away then Fossil Ridge at home before traveling to take on rival Southlake away.
Winning out the rest of district play will be key for the Cowgirls because there is a three way tie for first place after Fossil Ridge beat Southlake on Tuesday night.
