The award for the brightest smile in D115 goes to Coppell High School senior and The Sidekick staff writer Akshaya Ashokanand.
I met Akshaya at the beginning of this year, but I never actually started to talk to her until January. When talking to Akshaya, you can see how she tries to make everything so much more positive with her jokes and her bright personality.
People have been comparing me with Akshaya, saying that we have so much in common, such as our humor and even the way that we talk, being nonchalant and funny at the same time.
Being in the same class as Akshaya has brought me so much joy. In general, our class is already so chaotic and fun, but Akshaya plays such a huge role in that with her participation in group discussions, along with her occasional commentary on such small but important factors.
Her ability to pick out the small things in topics and how she’s able to make me laugh, no matter what she does, is something very admirable and astonishing.
It is so easy to talk to Akshaya. When talking with her, I feel as if I’m able to be myself with no shame. Our personalities blend well and it makes me want to be like her.
I admire so much about her, such as her positivity, work ethic, style and who she is as a person. It is an honor to be compared with her and have some of the same qualities that she has.
With this year being her first and final year in The Sidekick, I want Akshaya to know how great of a job she has done. Her hard work has not gone unnoticed by me, and it is something worth writing about.
I hope she continues having this passion and greatness throughout college and remembers that she will always have someone who admires her for the person she is. With such a fiery personality, I’m glad that it has not been extinguished.
Thank you, Akshaya, for all the bright times you made in D115, and for all the joy you have brought to me this year.
