performance. Excited friends, family and Vivacé! fans filled the seats anxiously before the curtains drew back for the annual Vivacé! Dessert Show.

Sophomore Holly Swaldi attends all the Vivacé! shows to support her sister, senior Rachael Swaldi.

“I enjoy coming to the shows to watch my sister perform. She has a great voice, and they always put on an entertaining show,” Holly said.

After a brief introduction from director Albert Torres, the crowd went wild as the show began.

“Party Rock Anthem” blasted through the auditorium as all the members of Vivacé! danced free style on stage. One by one, they were introduced to the applauding crowd, creating a lively mood. “Footloose” and “Sweet Caroline” were the first group numbers of the show. Afterward came “Treble In Paradise,” a Disney mash up performed by a group of Vivacé! boys. These easily recognizable songs kept up the entertaining mood of the night through fun dancing and humorous props.

Next up came Madonna’s “Vogue” by the Vivacé! girls. Dressed in all black and white, they created a visually interesting performance. The rest of the act consisted of more entertaining group performances such as “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Proud Mary”. Intermixed were also delightful duet numbers such as “What Can I See,” “100 Years,” and “Down.” Act One ended with an exciting group dance number, “Dirty Pop.”

During the intermission, guests raced towards the cafeteria to retrieve their complementary dessert and water bottle. Choices ranged from simple sugar cookies to miniature cheesecakes, and everything was delicious.

Senior Caroline Gibbons has always loved coming to see the Vivacé! shows. She is always impressed with their skillful singing and classic song choices.

“I enjoy coming to the show because I love to see my friends perform, and it is always interesting to see which songs they sing because there is such a wide variety,” Gibbons said.

To mix things up, as the crowd poured back in to the auditorium, they found members of Vivacé! in the audience dressed in all white and socializing with the crowd. When the music to “Marry You” started playing, the Vivacé! members sang and danced along to the music around the auditorium, giving the audience a fun surprise. More duets including “Put Your Records On,” “Set Fire to the Rain,” “God Bless the Broken Road,” and “Sunday Morning” were performed along with a solo by senior Lesli Adkins to “Hometown Glory.” The Vivacé! boys took the stage once again to preform “Hey There Deliliah/1-2-3-4.”

“Thriller” was a definite crowd favorite as the performers crawled along the stage wearing ripped clothing and even incorporated some of the original dance moves. “Lion Sleeps Tonight” was an entertaining and happy group performance followed by “Save the Last Dance for Me” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” The show finished with “Nicest Kids in Town,” the song which inspired the theme of the night. Vivacé! dressed and danced like they were in the 60s, making the show all the more enjoyable. Crowds left satisfied, giving them a standing ovation as they took their bows for their outstanding performances.

Vivacé! members themselves were also having a great time. Sophomore Wesley Szalkowski has been performing with the show choir for almost two years. She enjoys being an active part of the performances and had a lot of fun working on the dessert show.

“Vivace is known for putting on an entertaining show full of catchy songs and dances, and this year was no exception,” Szalkowski said. “The show was lively and full of fun, so if you didn’t get to see it you missed out.”
