Her decade of experience guides her teammates through every play. Ford’s impact goes beyond her footwork; she focuses on building strong bonds and supporting every player on the field. Her hard work and commitment make her both a reliable teammate and a respected captain.
How have you helped the team evolve this season?
My improvement. I have focused more on the technical part of soccer and make small adjustments.
How do you handle pressure?
I use my intensity and communication during play to help my teammates so they can trust me.
What is your favorite memory with teammates?
Our most memorable moments as a team have been team dinners. We get to know each other as a person rather than a player.
How do you manage academics and a demanding soccer schedule?
I manage school and soccer by tutoring on my off mornings and doing my homework in school. This shows my teachers my work ethic and singular in their class as well as pushing myself academically.
What are your goals?
My biggest goal for myself is to develop a better work ethic by putting in the time even when I don’t want to. This has been helping me stay on task more and more, creating a healthy habit.
How can your teammates and coaches help achieve your goals?
My teammates can better help me by communicating on and off the field. My coaches help tell me what I can improve on like things I cannot see while I am actually playing.
What do you enjoy most about soccer?
I love soccer because of the community built by sharing ideas and holding yourself accountable.
What does your position mean to your team?
I am a captain, which means I have to be a leader for my team, communicating with them and working hard for them. They rely on me which has helped me grow as a person for day to day life.
