Three Coppell High School athletes made it official by signing college letters of intent on Wednesday. Coaches, teammates and families gathered at CHS Arena to celebrate the accomplishments of these athletes.
Coppell senior Kenneth Gibbs signed to Southeastern Oklahoma State University to play football. According to Gibbs, the coaches who offered him made it clear that he belongs.
“I will contribute by bringing the biggest energy on the sideline,” Gibbs said. “Going in as a freshman, there is no guarantee that I’ll play, so I need to show up and keep the energy up.”
Coppell senior Adriana Reijnen signed to the University of Arkansas to play basketball. Reijnen moved to Coppell from The Netherlands as a junior.
“The SEC is a tough conference so I’m mainly focusing on my development for now,” Reijnen said. “ I was looking for a team that has such a strong culture like here in Coppell, and Arkansas brought that to life for me.”
Coppell senior Gabriella Pedro signed to Austin College to join the swim and dive program. Pedro said her confidence has grown in her performance.
“I think I’ve always been a good athlete,” Pedro said. “I love team spirit, I love my sport and I love every single part of being an athlete.”
