Gaining a 20-point lead in the first quarter, the Coppell girls basketball team was relentless in its defensive efforts to finish the game with a 62-32 victory over Lewisville in the CHS Arena on Tuesday.
Coppell cruised to a comfortable lead within the first eight minutes, hitting five 3-pointers.
“We started strong, so we were able to finish strong too,” junior guard Prisha Kolhe said. “We scored a little less and lost some momentum in the second quarter, but we made up for it.”

By halftime, Coppell led, 33-6, by playing aggressively. Coppell’s defense allowed the team to stake an early claim over the game as Lewisville struggled to combat the pressure with their offense.
“The bench was fired up the whole game, which made playing feel a lot more fun and added to how we played today,” Coppell senior guard Lahari Vojjala said. “We weren’t playing our best but it was more than enough to shut Lewisville out.”
Opening the second half, Coppell sophomore guard Amber Coffey made a two-pointer, then later a 3-pointer and a free throw, with Coppell’s defense remaining strong and limiting Lewisville to four points by the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, Lewisville showed some resilience and scored 14 points, led by senior forward Torrin Johnson. With Coppell’s lead never faltering below 20 points. Coffey helped seal the win in the fourth quarter by scoring six points.
