The halls of New Tech @ Coppell High were alive with laughter as families entered for a fun filled evening of games, treats and halloween spirits at the annual fall festival.
On Saturday, New Tech opens its doors to the annual fall festival for Coppell community members to enjoy Halloween festivities.
The festival was scheduled to be held outdoors, but weather forced New Tech to move the event inside, cancelling some events including the Trunk or Treat.
“Our students did a wonderful job adapting and keeping up their enthusiasm,” New Tech teacher Grace Hedgas said.“It was communicated really well beforehand that rain was possible and this was our backup plan”
The festival consisted of multiple booths with activities and food for participants to buy with tickets, which vary between type of activity and food.
“My kids enjoyed the costume contest and face painting,” parent Indu Jawhar said. “It is a nice way for the kids to have fun and escape the rain.”
The annual fall festival is planned by the NTC (Networking Team captains) of New Tech students and its faculty members. The groundwork for the festival started prior to the school year, consisting of summer planning days. As well as utilizing their Friday flex day to plan with their respective networking classes to arrange different booths and activities.
“Our committee has been working since the summer to work out the schematics and a lot of behind the scenes,” New Tech junior Aralynne Mannsl said. “We have 20 booths, three competitive races everyone involved worked so hard to pull this”
Participants think the fall festival encourages and lifts the Coppell community.
“You get to interact with students and people so much at the festival,” New Tech junior Aaaliyah Haun-Granado said. “By going to different booths, different stuff from the booths and getting to talk to everyone, It helps people connect with the community”
Some of the funding from this festival goes to New Tech @ Coppell High charity partner for the year, Single Parent Advocate, Senior Charity Team and community initiatives the school plans to host.
