The Coppell volleyball team plays Denton Guyer for the first District 5-6A match of the season tonight in CHS Arena. The Cowgirls have been developing a game plan to beat the Wildcats.

“We watch as much film as possible and scout their strengths, tendencies and weaknesses,” Cowgirls coach Robyn Ross said. “We practice the game plan we create over and over again.”

Their devised strategy will revolve around attacking the Wildcats’ offense, which is their strong suit.

“They have some good hitters and big blockers, so they will be a tough opponent,” Ross said. “They have three girls over six feet who lead their offence and blocking game.”

The Cowgirls regard the Wildcats as a formidable opponent after studying their play and having faced them in past years.

“We played them last year since they are in our district and we split with them,” Ross said. “We come up with exactly what needs to happen to beat every team and then it’s up to the girls to put it into play. We are very confident they will play a great match against Guyer.”
