Coppell City Council considered new technology innovations and potential changes to infrastructure presented by Smart City Board, recognizing Red Cross Month and Coppell Chamber of Commerce president, at its meeting on Tuesday.
Smart City evaluates needs in the community. In 2024, Smart City Board collaborated with DFW Airport to implement eVTOL, Green Electric Grid and AV Corridors improvement in technologies to increase efficiency.
Smart City Board members Kanishka Chaudhuri, Gautham Vemuganti and Deepak Jayavant presented potential plans to the council, proposing new technologies aimed to improve efficiency, quality of life and safety.

Recommended technologies like Microgrid used for secure energy supply to prevent situations like Texas freeze in 2021, where businesses, schools and neighborhoods shut down. This technology offers benefits such as cost savings, reliability and sustainability, due to the system’s ability to generate its own electricity from renewable sources.
Smart City Board hopes to utilize automotive motive technology sensors and improved communication systems to provide an increase in safety for road users. In addition to Urban Air Mobility transportation systems using small and automated aircrafts to carry people and cargo in urban areas, implementation of airport shuttles and short regional mobility to airport services. These plans explore the future as improvements along residents experience higher quality technology, quality of life and safety.
Each March, the American Red Cross recognizes the compassion of people nationwide and celebrates their commitment to care for one another. The Red Cross held 15 blood drives, 290 units of blood to ensure new moms, cancer patients and accident victims have access to safe lifesaving blood.
City Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ellie Braxton received a seal from Mayor Wes Mays. Braxton is set to retire on March 31 and the city recognized her contribution, commitment and impact.
