Got You Covered is a series from The Sidekick detailing events involving Coppell High School and Coppell ISD happening this week. It will be posted every Monday for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year.
  • On Monday, all Coppell ISD campuses are closed for District Holiday-Flex Professional Development.
  • On Tuesday and Wednesday, CISD hosts a Kindergarten Popsicle Party from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Kid Country Playground. 
  • On Wednesday, Coppell Arts Center hosts April Paint & Sip: Bird of Paradise at 6 p.m. 
  • On Saturday, Coppell Biodiversity Education Center hosts Earthfest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
  • Coppell Cozby Library & Community Commons hosts Local Journalism with Dan Koller on Saturday from 2-3 p.m.

Truth masked in lies
According to Governor Greg Abbott, out of the total 150 seats in the Texas House, 79 are expected to vote for school vouchers, which would allow families to choose the school their child attends using taxpayer dollars. Sahasra Chakilam is a senior and the Executive News Editor of The Sidekick. She joined The Sidekick after watching Gilmore Girls and being inspired by Rory Gilmore’s work ethic and passion for journalism. Through the program, she has been able to develop a love for storytelling and connect with her community on a deeper level through reporting.  Outside of The Sidekick, she enjoys consuming all sorts of media. Her favorite music genres are R&B and indie pop, she has rewatched Crazy Rich Asians and How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days maybe 15 times and cannot ever pass on a 2000s teen drama.
