Senior Day for the Coppell baseball team did not turn out a win, ending in a 5-4 Rockwall victory on Saturday at Coppell ISD Baseball/Softball Complex.
The Cowboys played tough by shutting out Rockwall as best as they could. But after letting the Yellowjackets get an early lead of 3-0 in the first inning, they couldn’t seem to get ahead.
“We gave up three in [the] first and that hurt us a lot,” senior pitcher Seth Frederick said.
Even if the game didn’t turn out to be a win, the Cowboys still showed up to play. Senior Salvador Alonzo went 3 for 4 at the plate, collecting singles in the third, sixth and seventh inning.
The seniors on the team want to make the best of their remaining games in the season.
“They’re fighters and they want to get after it no matter who’s at the plate or who’s on the mound,” Coppell coach Armando Garza said.
Coppell hosts Flower Mound on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at CISD Baseball/Softball Complex.
