Freshman Vaishnavi Vishwanatham has been elected as CHS9 HOSA club president. This is Vishwanatham’s first position within HOSA.
What inspired you to take on a leadership role within CHS9 HOSA?
The inspiration stemmed from a genuine passion for pursuing a career in the medical field. When I was younger, I thought that taking on a leadership role within HOSA was crucial in developing the necessary leadership skills that would be beneficial for any future opportunities in medicine.
How do you plan to make a positive impact within the club?
Despite the unexpected number of members, now exceeding 100 students, our goal was to ensure that there would be active participation. Implementing a point system was successful in motivating members to engage in the club’s activities. My goal was to make sure that everyone felt motivated to contribute, hoping that there would be a sense of involvement and enthusiasm within HOSA.
Can you share some highlights from your time as an officer?
Some highlights include our successful HOSA Family Night, which not only had a significant turnout but also managed to collect a substantial amount of canned goods with over 400 cans, which I think is a memorable achievement for the first event of the year. Additionally, organizing engaging activities like mock contests and trivia nights added to the positive experiences that the members have had. In terms of personal growth, being part of HOSA helped me have a broader perspective, motivating me to appreciate the intricate details of planning behind the scenes. Academically, the leadership position has helped me ensure that I am well-prepared to address any questions and lead discussions well.
How has being a part of the CHS9 leadership team motivated you to run for the Coppell High School HOSA Club next year?
Overall, this experience has been motivating and my desire to continue contributing to HOSA has only grown. While I don’t know which specific role I may run for, the overall impact and positive influence of the leadership position I currently have has impacted my passion for HOSA.
