Coppell ISD Board of Trustees candidate Dr. Neena Biswas pulled ahead of incumbent Thom Hulme for Place 4 on the board, with 10,856 votes and 51.01% compared to Hulme’s 10,427 votes and 48.99%.

“I was overjoyed at the results and feel extremely fortunate to have this opportunity to serve on the CISD Board,” Dr. Biswas said. “I would like to thank all the members of the community, especially those who voted for me to make this election successful. I would also like to extend my thanks to Mr. Hulme, for his hard work and long service as a departing member of the CISD Board.”

For Place 5 on the school board, incumbent David Caviness was unopposed.

“I’m ready to get going,” Caviness said. “For me, this is how I grew up. You get involved in the area you live in. With my wife being a teacher and having kids in the district, this is the path I’ve gone down. That’s really it for me, is serving the community and giving back to the next generation, because they are the future.”

Biswas and Caviness will be sworn in at the Nov. 16 board meeting.
