Coppell tennis hosts Lewisville at the CHS Tennis Center at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

Following a win against Hebron on Friday and a win against Marcus last Tuesday, tomorrow’s match leaves just two more until the postseason.

“Both Marcus and Hebron are very consistent and good at getting to the ball and returning it,” Coppell senior Rachaney Garza said. “It was a long and tiring game of either trying to put it away or hit it back and forth. But for tomorrow, if we focus and not let things get to us then we can do better.”

Coppell beat Lewisville last year, 18-1, with players citing mentality and fine-tuning as reasons for the dominant victory. According to Garza, this year the team should focus on getting off to better starts.

“When we start playing, we start a bit slow,” Garza said. “If we play hard at first we can start off on a good note. If we just start on a good foot, stay focused and be calm, we will do great.”

Following tomorrow’s match against Lewisville, Coppell plays Plano East and Flower Mound at the CHS Tennis Center before commencing bi-district matches on Oct. 26.

“We have won quite a few matches,” Garza said. “Even if we don’t win we still fight hard until the end. We should stay focused and play hard so we can do our best and win.”
