Boys and girls prepare to battle it out at tomorrow’s pep rally

This Friday, boys and girls of CHS join together at the ‘battle of the sexes’

second period pep rally.

To show school spirit, boys are to wear blue and girls are to wear pink, and administration has been accepting activity ideas since the beginning of the week.

Missing from the usual crowd of organizations and performances will be the Lariettes, a cheer routine and parts of the CHS choir. The acapella choir departs tonight for a competition in New Orleans and will return on Monday afternoon.

“The Lariettes are done for the year,” Lariette director Julie Stralow said. “In the senior’s mind – they are done, and I didn’t feel like we needed to make them practice when there is no game or competition to prepare for.”

While the cheerleaders will be dressed out and in attendance for the rally, they will not be going a dance routine like they usually do. Although we will be missing their routine, it is a possibility that a new form of cheer excitement will be added.

“We might be doing a girls verses boys cheer pyramid,” JV cheerleading coach Britne Lambert said.

More theme inspired events will be boys against girls game of tug-of-war and a trivia game, similar to the board game, ‘Battle of the Sexes’.  In the game, girls are asked questions about generally defined ‘male topics’ and vice versa.

Despite the missing performances, this pep rally promises to be an interesting one as it pups up the students to defend and represent their gender.
