The World is Ending

By Angela Almeida

I am greatly frightened. I go on CNN and hardly see a shortage of stories I’m not quickly clicking to read further on. Let me make a list of the untimely catastrophes that have recently plagued our world.

1. Not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 (give or take a few more) earthquakes in Chile. I am beside myself. Aftershocks here, aftershocks there. What have our fault lines come too? As of now, I’m frightened to venture anywhere outside of a secured, not earthquake-ridden zone.

2. Tsunami’s triggered by such earthquakes. In Hawaii, off the coast of Japan, the list goes on. The destruction mounts as does people’s fear.

3. Haiti seeming to trigger it all. We all vividly remember this, a kind of offsetting to the subsequent peril.

To be frank, I am scared. Not in the 2012 phenomenon sense, but in a ‘wow, is this all coincidental?’ sense.
