The lights dim, and the unmistakeable scent of buttery popcorn fills the air around you. You look over and see your friends, family or date in the dark haze of the theater.
You feel each flash of the big screen and suddenly are sucked into an alternate universe, quickly engrossed in the characters of the movie.
The movie keeps you guessing, takes turns and builds the plot that creates the masterpiece you just spent the last two hours viewing. No matter what genre you prefer, you probably attended a movie in 2015 and had a similar experience.
Last year was a great year in the film industry, films across the world making $8.3 billion from box office sales. As well, the industry produced many great films such as the much anticipated Mockingjay: Part 2, of the Hunger Games trilogy, Insurgent of the Divergent trilogy and The Scorch Trials of the Maze Runner series. Other animated productions such as Disney Pixar’s Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur and the yellow chaos that overtook the media with “Minions” all came out in 2015.
We cannot skip Marvel’s top grossing productions The Avengers: Age of Ultron & Ant Man. The industry boomed and box office sales soared as Fast and Furious 7 concluded the collection with a tribute to the late Paul Walker. However, no movie surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens that premiered over Christmas break.
