The cafeteria was bedecked in school colors and smelled of Italian food. Lariettes walked around offering baked goods as a silent auction was in full swing. A raffle brought happiness to a select few individuals, while the excitement of the football game hung over their heads.

You may have already guessed it, but on Friday night this scene came from the annual Lariette Spaghetti Dinner.

Serving as a fundraiser for the Lariette program, the Lariettes, their parents and Italian Steakhouse, Bistecca, hold this communal event to bring Coppellians together over spaghetti, auctioning and prize winning before the first home football game.

With the amount of participation from both the parents and the Lariettes, the night was a fun one. Many of the attendees enjoyed their time including Riya Mahesh, a 10th grader at Coppell High School.

“The effort put in by the parents and by the Lariettes is just amazing.” Mahesh said.

Mahesh was compelled to go, just like many others in the Coppell community.

“I have a lot of friends who are Lariettes and I felt it was my duty to support their cause,” Mahesh said.

With many Coppell families attending, everyone, including the Lariettes, could see the positive effects of this community dinner.

“I love getting to be with all my teammates,” CHS sophomore Lariette Sarah Wales said. “It’s events like these that bring us closer together because there is so much hard work put into it.”

Before a big game, the excitement can be infectious, and the Lariette Spaghetti Dinner was a great way to see friends and family while supporting the Lariettes, a group who adds their own special touch when under those Friday night lights.
