Coppell High School faculty and staff nominated Spanish teacher Holly Whiting ‘Teacher of the Month’ for September after receiving rave reviews for her relationship in the classroom with her students.
Whiting took the role by using her personal style in building trust and comfort among her students.
“I hope that by modeling I can new teachers learn how to create good relationships with their students,” Whiting said. “I know I had some good models myself.”
Whiting said good relationships are especially important for her AP Spanish IV course.
“It’s very challenging for a student to speak a foreign language confidently, and they’re not ever going to speak it confidently if I don’t make them feel comfortable and encourage them to want to do that,” Whiting said.
