Heading up against a strong rival in Flower Mound Marcus (20-8), the Cowgirls (8-13) are ready for the challenge. The big District 5-5A game will be taking place on Friday at 7 p.m. at Coppell Middle School West.
With 11 of the 15 players being underclassmen, this team is no stranger to competition, yet that does not hold them back from their hunger for victory against Marcus.
“We are a very young team, so I don’t think we are expected to be that good, but we’ve come out really strong,” said freshman Sami Thomas. “I think we’ve exceeded expectations this year.”
Although the last time the teams were up against each other, Coppell came out losing, but the team is confident the outcome will be different this time around.
“We lost before because none of us were hitting strong, but if we’re error free than we have a chance at winning,” said freshman Faith Smith. “I’m sure we will do great against Marcus on Friday.”
