Stephenie Meyer hits theaters again with “The Host”

By Jordan Bickham
Staff Writer

After the release of “Breaking Dawn: Part 2” in November of this past year, many believed that they would not be seeing another adaption of author Stephenie Meyer’s novels on the big screen.  But this Friday, another adaption of one of her bestselling novels is coming to theaters.  The film adaptation of “The Host,” another science fiction, romance adult novel by Meyer is coming to theaters on March 29.

“The Host” takes place on earth, but the earth has been overrun by alien, spirit-like creatures that take over human minds in order to function on earth.  With strict regulations, the world of these overtaken “humans” is perfect and uninterrupted by human life minus a few “wild” humans.  One of these free humans, Melanie (Saoirse Ronan),  has finally been captured and implanted with one of these foreign invaders called Wanderer.  Wanderer is ready to control a body and go about life on earth, but in contrast, Melanie is not prepared to give up her freedom and refuses to relinquish control of her mind.  When outside forces make Melanie and Wanderer reluctant and unexpected allies, they set off on a dangerous journey for the man they both love.

The novel was a bestseller and with a unique storyline, “The Host” looks to be an interesting movie.  You can find out for yourself by checking out the trailer and by going to see the movie this weekend.
