As the winter months begin, the holiday desserts and foods are in abundance and it becomes more and more difficult to brave the elements and work out. Many of the fall sports have come to an end, and that leaves many Coppell High School students with the question of how to stay fit.
For some CHS students, zumba is the perfect option. Almost every fitness center in Coppell offers a zumba class, and the classes are a fun way for students to fit some fitness into their busy schedules. Zumba is a Columbian dance fusion class that combines cardiovascular exercise with coordination and balance.
Many Zumba enthusiasts rave about the class because it makes them forget they are working out, they simply feel like they are dancing with friends. Zumba classes are led by an instructor/choreographer who instructs the class in easy to follow and active dances that get their blood flowing.
Zumba classes usually last 30 minutes to an hour, and can sometimes burn as many calories as using a treadmill or elliptical. If you do not have dance experience, there is no need to worry. Zumba is not about showing off or being the best in the room, it is about staying fit and having fun, and that is just what some students need.
