Dashing through the streets for holiday entertainment

By Jordan Bickham
Staff Writer

While most people will probably not get the chance to dash through the snow in Texas, you can still have the opportunity to ride in a “one horse open sled.”  With many beautiful neighborhoods around the area, there are also many carriage companies close by.

One of the more popular companies is Threejays Carriages which is located in the DFW area.  Not only can you book a carriage for a simple holiday-esque outing, but you can get a carriage for weddings, funerals and more.  The carriages usually drive around the Highland Park area due to the area’s beautiful holiday decorations.  You can check out Highland Village’s typical holiday decor on flickr.

Besides carriage rides, there are many other holiday attractions around the area such as various houses that are decked out for the holidays.  One house on Meadowcreek Drive is decorated, making it hard to miss.   The house’s light display is actually put to music on a specific radio station.  Anyone can drive by, tune into the radio station and watch the light show.  Another street, Gifford Drive which is located off of Parkway, is always decorated with various lights and arches that stand over the street.

So whether you are dashing through the streets in a carriage or watching an entertaining light display, the DFW area is decked out for the holidays and ready for a season of fun!
