Cash for Candy offers alternative to eating Halloween candy

By Caroline Carter
Staff Writer

On Halloween, children and teenagers made their way around Coppell to receive candy. Instead of saving the candy, a local dentist offers an alternative to indulging in sweets.

Dr. Melissa Rozas of Coppell will be holding a Cash for Candy drive on Nov. 8 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Those who donate will receive a small amount of money for their candy donation and also help a good cause. Canned goods will be donated to organizations to help children and families in North Texas.

Cash for Candy also benefits one’s dental health. Rozas reports that eating one to two pieces of candy over a long period of time can lead to an increase in bacteria and cavities. Two days of intense candy eating will not have a large affect on teeth, and you will still have time to eat your favorite sweets.

Dr. Rozas’ office is located at 632 E. Sandy Lake Rd.
